Beer bread has been a staple in my family for as long as I could remember. From fishing trips, camping, snowshoeing adventures and even snowboarding… this loaf always makes it into the lunch kit. Made with your favourite beer, lots of cheese with a dense and hearty crumble. It’s going to be moist and tender and quite possibly the best bread you’ve ever made!

  • Preheat the oven to 350° and lightly spray and line the sides of a 9x5" loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder and stir to combine. Make a little well in the center of the dry ingredients and stir in the cheese.
  • Pour in the beer and stir until no flour streaks remain. Get ready for the bubbles!
  • Add half of the melted butter to the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and tilt the pan around so the butter coats the bottom of the pan. Transfer batter to the pan, giving it a bang on the counter to make sure it's even. We don't want ANY surprise air pockets.
  • Pour the remaining melted butter over the top of the batter, using a brush make sure it's evenly spread.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center, comes out clean.
  • Whisk together garlic butter topping ingredients (melted butter, parsley and garlic powder) and brush this over the top of the loaf when it comes out of the oven. Make sure you do this step while the loaf is hot, this will give you the crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside we are all looking for!
  • Let bread cool in the pan for 5-7 minutes, then turn out carefully onto a wire rack to finish cooling. I know it's hard to wait, but don't cut this until it's cooled! If you just go ahead, you might as well not even slice it... or at least just steal the heel.
